Exiting the Pits
Entering and Exiting the pits is very important. To maintain the safety of yourself and others, you SHALL do this the right way every single time. No exceptions! Study these procedures. Know them inside out. Messing them up and causing a wreck would have a high probably of damage to machine and man. Race Control will Black Flag you and give warnings if these steps are not followed. Repeated violations can result in your removal and the end of your day.
Pit Out
At Jennings, Turn 1 is very fast and corner entry is after a long and fast strait. When the racetrack is hot (open), riders are entering Turn 1 with the expectation that no one is going to jump in front of them exiting the pits. Those on the track have the right of way. Respect this! This is not a race, there is no jockeying for position. Take your time and focus. Even if you are the first rider out, this is an important procedure to practice. Do it the same way every single time.
Steps
- As you exit the pits, stop at the starter’s booth and wait for them to wave you onto pit lane. Other riders could be coming down pit lane, or pedestrians could be crossing. Stay alert.
- Proceed down pit lane at a comfortable, but controlled pace. Visor down. Leathers Zipped. Don’t Wheelie. Don’t Pass!
- As you enter the track, there is a dotted blend line (See Pictures.) Stay to the right of this line all the way to the end. It is very narrow. Control your speed and, we repeat, STAY TO THE RIGHT all the way to the end of the blend line.
- Look to your left and stay clear of riders that are at speed all the way thru Turn 1.
- As you exit the blend area and enter the hot track, start to get on the throttle and continue to stay to the right on your way to Turn 2.
- Begin to merge with race traffic as you get up to speed.
- If you are not sure if you are going to be in the way, stay right and out of the race line. There is plenty of race track leading to Turn 3.
